HB1716/SB1759
Car Smoking Ban
Result: Passed in Senate; Defeated in House | Sponsors: Sen. Briggs / Rep. Ramsey
CoSponsors: Hensley, Massey, Yarbro
This bill would have banned smoking in a car if kids under the age of 14 are present. AFP opposed this bill because of the infringement on personal freedom and property rights. Moreover, this bill made smoking in your car a stoppable offense with penalties subjective to law enforcement discretion, included mobile homes, and did not account for open-air vehicles.
